What Is The Ryobi 2000 PSI Pressure Washer?

The Ryobi 2000 PSI Powerwasher is one of the most recent power washers from the company Ryobi.

Ryobi is a Japanese company known for making all kinds of electronics and components for cars and DIY tools.

They’re very well liked for their good quality products for low prices, making them one of the first go-to brands for DIY enthusiasts.

Like all their other pressure washers, Ryobi claims that their 2000 PSI Pressure Washer is great for all kinds of outdoor cleaning and not just for cars.

You can also use it to wash down any grills and outdoor furniture you have, plus it is also safe to use to clean your windows, outdoor floors and any other residential cleaning.

Their previous pressure washers did not have rave reviews but many agreed that the previous Ryobi pressure washers served as a good basis for those looking for a very basic pressure washer.

However, their newest model is the Ryobi 2000 PSI Pressure Washer and it is said to be built upon Ryobi’s previous pressure washers, improving its function and fixing their flaws.

So – has Ryobi finally come through with an amazing pressure washer?

The Ryobi 2000 PSI Pressure Washer Features And Appearance

At first glance, the Ryobi 2000 PSI Pressure Washer unit looks like a very good pressure washer. It is fairly compact and lightweight, weighing at only thirty-two pounds, making it easy to store and carry around your home to different jobs.

Ryobi 2000 PSI Pressure Washer Review

This lightweight feature is mainly due to the Ryobi 2000 PSI Pressure Washer’s materials. It is mainly made from a strong plastic with certain parts (like the hose’s fitting) made from stainless steel.

Although the reliance on plastic is an ecological concern as well as the fact that it is not as durable as other metallic materials, it still feels pretty sturdy and unlikely to break if it is handled a little heavily.

Design-wise, the Ryobi 2000 PSI Pressure Washer is very simple and easy to use.

The on and off switch is easily found on the top so it’s not difficult to get to if you need to cut your pressure washer off immediately.

Another handy design feature is that the hose inlet is easily located at the back and the outlet at the front, which is a great safety feature to help protect the two from coming in close contact with one another.

There is also an attachable telescopic handle and wheels to make using your pressure washer a lot easier so all you have to do when using it is to drag it along behind you – just watch out for those wires!

The handle is also expandable so you can adjust it to the length that is most comfortable to you, and we found it  to slide in and out with ease.

As for nozzles, the Ryobi 2000 PSI Pressure Washer comes with two different nozzles, a wand and an extension piece.

The wand fits easily onto the hose itself and is very lightweight, making it easy to handle.

What’s so great about it is the extension piece as it screws on easily and allows you to get into the finer cracks and crevices for a deep clean.

The two nozzles included are a soap dispensing nozzle and a fifteen degree nozzle.

Both come with carry their own attachments to the unit so you can easily store the nozzles without losing them and also have them at hand to quickly switch while using your pressure washer.

While the nozzles themselves aren’t anything to rave around, it is nice that you have somewhere on the unit that you can easily store them and they are multicolored so you can spot them easily.

Overall, we like the look of the Ryobi 2000 PSI Pressure Washer and the very basic features it comes with.

On the surface, it looks like a very good base model for a pressure washer.

There are some functions  that make it super easy and convenient to use, plus it looks pretty durable despite its reliance on plastic when it comes to materials – but this is also what helps drive down its price and makes it affordable to many people.

Use And Function Review

Right, let’s test this pressure washer out!

The first thing we noticed when testing out the Ryobi 2000 PSI Pressure Washer is that we experienced no leaks or dampness around the connections to the unit.

With electric pressure washers, this can be a big safety hazard plus it also affects the power of your pressure washer so as long as you correctly attach all the components of the unit, you shouldn’t experience any kinds of leaks with the Ryobi 2000 PSI Pressure Washer.

We also tested out the total stop system. Total stop systems are great in pressure washers because they switch off the noise once the pressure is high enough for the unit.

Ryobi 2000 PSI Pressure Washer Review

Pressure washers are notoriously loud and this noise can be seriously annoying after a while but with a total stop system, the loud noise stops once you release the trigger – so once you get fed up, you can just take five minutes and enjoy some peace and quiet.

When it came to using the pressure washer, we found the trigger to be very responsive and easy to use.

However, the hose itself is very stiff and easily kinks, meaning that you lose pressure and the hose bunches up on itself very often.

Luckily, you can just swap out the hose provided by Ryobi. It is a much better hose as the fitting is very basic and easily attaches to other brands of pliable hoses.

As for power, the Ryobi 2000 PSI Pressure Washer claims to have a 1.2 GMP and 2000 PSI.

We tested these out to see if the results were accurate to what Ryobi claims, and while we were happy with GMP, the pressure was a bit under 2000 PSI.

Our water pressure gauge that we tested the unit with told us that the pressure was measuring at around 1800 PSI instead of 2000.

This isn’t a huge difference but we would have liked to have seen it at least hit 2000 PSI at least once.

If you are looking for a seriously powerful pressure washer, then this might not be the best one for you but if you only want something a bit stronger than a 1600 PSI pressure washer, then the Ryobi 2000 PSI Pressure Washer has got you covered.

Basically, the Ryobi 2000 PSI Pressure Washer does its job well and is a really nice unit overall.

We used it to wash down our driveway and it worked with no problem, plus when using the extension piece for the wand, we could really get into the finer pieces of our car wheels to wash down the rims easily.

When washing your car using this pressure washer, we would recommend that you use the low pressure nozzle just so you can avoid damaging the paint on your car.

However, for more stubborn stains on your BBQ grills and concrete flooring – go all out and use as much pressure as you like!

Our Results

Overall, we are really happy with the Ryobi 2000 PSI Pressure Washer although there are a few negatives we need to cover.

The unit is definitely an improvement on Ryobi’s previous models but they need to address the hose because it is terrible.

It’s a nightmare to use due to its stiffness and this makes it liable to twist itself and kink, reducing your pressure and potentially damaging your unit overall.

While you can swap the hose out for something more pliable, Ryobi should start looking to use better materials for the hose.

As for materials, we would like to see some more durable materials used for the wand and nozzles.

While they work fine now, they don’t feel sturdy enough to last for years and years so this is another improvement Ryobi can look into.

However, there are definitely some great features to this pressure washer.

It does its job great and it’s really easy to carry around and use, even if the hose is a nightmare.

For  the price it is at, it’s pretty affordable and convenient for those seeking a functional power washer with high pressure results.

Overall, we would recommend the Ryobi 2000 PSI Pressure Washer but only to those who want a high-powered pressure washer to use from time to time.

If you are looking for something more durable and sturdy, then you may want to look elsewhere, but for the casual user, the Ryobi 2000 PSI Pressure Washer gets the job done and for a great price too.
